OVERVIEW
Branscombe Vale Brewery sought a refreshed brand identity that honoured its heritage and coastal Devon setting while communicating the craftsmanship and quality behind its beers. The brief was to create a system that reflected both place and process, helping the brand stand out in a competitive craft beer market.
STRATEGY
The rebrand anchored the identity in the brewery’s unique sense of place. A strong horizon line mirrored the meeting of land and sea, reinforcing locality and atmosphere. A gridded layout system ensured consistency across applications while reflecting the precision of brewing. Bold colourways were introduced to inject vibrancy and differentiation, giving the brand presence in an often-muted category.
OUTPUT
I led the development of the visual identity, including a hallmark system inspired by precious metal coding to communicate authenticity and quality. This system allowed drinkers to decode each beer’s character, colour, bitterness, and strength, creating clarity and intrigue at shelf level. Every touchpoint, from labels to collateral, adhered to the grid and horizon structure for cohesion.
IMPACT
The rebrand produced a modern yet timeless identity that deepened Branscombe Vale’s emotional connection to its coastal origins. By embedding storytelling, place, and craftsmanship into every detail, the brand’s perception was elevated, helping it stand out in the craft beer landscape and resonate more strongly with consumers.
