BLACK ORCHID
OVERVIEW
This limited-edition collaboration with artist Brandon Sadler (a.k.a. Rising Red Lotus) merged contemporary craft, wellness, and spiritual symbolism to transform tea drinking into a moment of mindful ritual. The intention was to elevate the unboxing experience into a ceremony of stillness, a counterbalance to an overstimulated world.
STRATEGY
We translated Sadler’s visual language, influenced by Eastern calligraphy, mythology, and sacred geometry — into a tactile journey that guided users toward presence. Every interaction was choreographed to feel intentional. Materiality, texture, and rhythm were used as tools for grounding, reinforcing Sadler’s philosophy of balance and flow across the entire design ecosystem.
OUTPUT
I co-led the creative direction and oversaw execution across packaging, materials, and communications to ensure total cohesion. The sculptural tea vessel, modular compartments, and an artist-led storytelling booklet formed a sensory set where unboxing itself became a meditative ritual. Each component worked together as a contemporary artefact — symbolic, functional, and deeply tactile.
IMPACT
The final design blurred the line between product and art object, transforming a simple consumption moment into ceremony. The tea ritual set served as a cultural artefact that demonstrated how packaging can transcend utility, inviting consumers into mindfulness and proving that design, when guided by intention, can become a powerful ritual in itself.
