MADE IN BUNCH BASTARDISED

OVERVIEW

I contributed artwork to Bastardised: 289 Selected Bunchisms, a curated visual anthology from Bunch’s Made In Bunch logo project. The book showcases 289 graphic experiments that explore subversion, play, and reinterpretation of the logo, inviting designers to push conceptual and visual boundaries.

STRATEGY

I chose the Ishihara colour-blindness test as the conceptual starting point. The dot patterns and colour contrasts of the test provided a system to explore perception, visibility, and subtlety, reflecting how design can hide and reveal simultaneously. Slight adjustments to the colours ensured accessibility, while the concept highlighted the subjective nature of colour perception, adding a thoughtful, empathetic layer to the playful spirit of the project.

OUTPUT

I created a graphic experiment based on the Ishihara system, carefully adjusting colour contrasts to balance visibility and conceptual intent. The piece integrated seamlessly into the anthology, reflecting both technical craft and a conceptual approach to visual perception.

IMPACT

The project positioned my work alongside international artists, designers, and illustrators including Malcolm Garrett, Jonathan Ellery, Paul Davis, Marian Bantjes, Stefan Sagmeister, James Goggin, Carlos Segura, Build, Paul Insect, David Quay, Vince Frost, Si Scott, and Julian Morey. The contribution demonstrated how concept-driven design can engage with accessibility, play, and visual experimentation in a globally recognised creative platform.
